The Design Story

This particular version draws inspiration from Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay’s admiration for Josef Albers’ Homage to the Square series. The geometric needlepoint, created by Hunt & Hope, translates the bold simplicity and rhythm of Albers’ compositions into textile form, lending the stool a strong graphic identity while retaining its handcrafted character. The contrast between the refined frame and richly textured upholstery gives the design a lightness that works particularly well in kitchens, bars and informal entertaining spaces, where it functions as both seating and a decorative accent.

Behind the Scenes

Each Henri Bar Stool is handcrafted using precision metal fabrication and traditional upholstery techniques. The slim steel frame is carefully finished to achieve a clean, understated appearance while remaining exceptionally robust. The upholstered seat is built and finished by hand, with the needlepoint cover requiring particular care to ensure the pattern aligns perfectly across the cushion.
