The Design Story

The Lafon Chair draws inspiration from the restrained glamour and disciplined craftsmanship of Paul Dupré-Lafon, whose work balanced luxurious materials with deceptively simple forms. The generously upholstered seat and back appear almost suspended within the frame, giving the chair a lightness despite its solid construction. At the centre, the brass backsplat introduces a distinctive detail, both functional and sculptural, catching the light and lending warmth to the piece.

Behind the Scenes

Each Lafon Chair begins with an oak frame, carefully constructed to achieve the chair’s precise proportions and balance. The brass-plated steel backsplat is hand-patinated, to create a warm, soft finish. The final assembly is completed by hand, ensuring the relationship between upholstery, timber and brass feels seamless and refined.
