The Design Story

Inspired by the work of Paul Dupré-Lafon, the Lafon Bar Stool reflects the restrained glamour and material richness associated with French decorative design of the 1930s and 1940s. The generously upholstered seat and floating backrest create a silhouette that feels poised and inviting, while the circular footrest and swivel mechanism make the stool equally suited to long evenings around a kitchen island or private bar. The design is intentionally understated, allowing the quality of the materials and the precision of the detailing to take precedence.

Behind the Scenes

Each Lafon Bar Stool is handcrafted using traditional upholstery and metalworking techniques. The upholstered forms are built and shaped by hand to achieve the chair’s crisp lines and soft, tailored appearance. From the precision of the stitched upholstery to the balance of the swivel mechanism, every detail is carefully considered to ensure the stool feels effortless in use while retaining the refinement of a fully bespoke piece.
