Craftsmanship
Craftsmanship is the foundation of everything we do. All our work is made in our Shropshire workshops by skilled makers with a deep respect for traditional processes. This allows us to work with confidence, care and integrity - qualities that define both how we design and how we make.
Set in the English countryside, our Shropshire workshops bring together four disciplines: wood, metal, glass, and finishing.
Having these skills under one roof allows for a consistent approach and close collaboration across each stage of making.
From gilding and decorative finishes to metalwork and fine joinery, traditional techniques are used alongside methods developed and refined in-house.
Surfaces are patinated, lacquered, or left raw, depending on the brief, and hand-finishing allows for subtle adjustments in tone, texture, and depth in ways factory processes could never achieve.
Our antiqued mirror glass is silvered by hand in our glass workshop in the traditional 19th-century manner, resulting in surfaces with great depth, subtle variation, and the appearance of natural aging.
Wood
We work with a wide range of timbers including oak, walnut, and burr. Selected for their timelessness and longevity, each is chosen for its natural variation rather than uniformity. The finishes below form our standard Collection options.
Metal
Metalwork is forged, carved and finished in-house. Our team approaches each piece with both technical precision and a considered understanding of form, before moving into the finishing process. The finishes below form our standard Collection options.
Mirrored Cathedral Glass
We source cathedral glass from specialist makers who share our commitment to traditional techniques. Often associated with historic architecture, the glass is silvered by hand to create a softly reflective surface rich in texture, depth and tonal variation. The colours below form our standard Collection options.
Paper-backed Cathedral Glass
Unlike the mirrored cathedral glass used in many of our designs, the Lucian Mirror features paper-backed cathedral glass. By backing the glass rather than silvering it, we preserve the richness of its colour and the subtle movement within its textured surface, allowing the material itself to become the focus rather than the reflection.
Antique Mirror Glass
We hand-silver glass by pouring or spraying, creating a surface onto which we apply our signature antiquing finish, replicating the foxing and subtle variation found in naturally aged mirrors.

Specialist Finishes
We maintain an extensive sample library of specialist finishes, offering a broad palette of materials and styles for our bespoke work. They include hand-painting, gilding, chinoiserie, cracked gesso, verre églomisé, vellum, and fine decorative work. We continue to develop and challenge ourselves with new techniques in response to each project.
“I like the idea of taking traditional materials, like cathedral glass that's a 14th century material you would see in a church, and making it relevant today. For me, it’s a thing, it's endless.”
