Care and Maintenance
Due to the handmade nature of our pieces and the materials used, proper care is important to ensure they age well and remain in use for years to come.

Timber & Veneer
For regular cleaning, dust with a dry, lint-free cloth. If polishing is required, use a small amount of Renaissance Wax, removing any excess with a clean cloth. Marks can be removed using a lightly dampened cloth, followed by a dry cloth.
As a natural material, timber will respond to changes in temperature and humidity, which may result in slight movement over time.
Avoid:
- Acidic, silicone, or abrasive cleaners (e.g. Cif or Mr Sheen).
- Commercial cleaning products.
- Placing pieces close to heat sources or air conditioning units.
Glass & Antique Mirror
For regular cleaning, use a non-smear glass cleaner such as Hodgson Sealants Glass Cleaner and a lint-free cloth. Polish with a second clean cloth to finish.
Take care not to spray surrounding materials, and ensure cloths are free from dust or grit to avoid scratching.
Metal
For regular cleaning, dust with a dry, lint-free cloth. Marks can be removed using a lightly dampened cloth, followed by a dry cloth.
We recommend using coasters to protect surfaces from moisture.
Avoid:
- Allowing liquids to sit on the surface.
Acidic or abrasive cleaners (e.g. Cif or Mr. Sheen) or contact with foods such as citrus or sauces. - Commercial cleaning products.
- Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or placement near heat sources.
Patinated Finishes
For regular cleaning, dust with a dry, soft lint-free cloth.
For maintenance or polishing, please contact us for recommended products.
Avoid:
- Acidic or abrasive cleaners (e.g. Cif or Mr. Sheen).
- Commercial cleaning products.
- Direct sunlight or placement near heat sources.
Vellum
For regular cleaning, use a dry, soft lint-free cloth.
Over time, vellum may require a refresh of the protective wax finish - contact us before applying any product.
Avoid:
- Acidic or abrasive cleaners (e.g. Cif or Mr. Sheen).
- Commercial cleaning products.
- Direct sunlight or heat exposure.
Leather
For regular cleaning, dust with a dry, soft lint-free cloth.
As leather types vary, we recommend following the supplier’s care guidance where applicable.
Avoid:
- Saddle soap or household polishes.
Acidic or abrasive cleaners (e.g. Cif or Mr. Sheen). - Commercial cleaning products.
- Direct sunlight or placement near heat sources.
Wallpaper
For spot cleaning, apply a mild detergent using a soft cloth. Rinse with clean water and dry immediately with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth.
Avoid:
- Acidic or abrasive cleaners (e.g. Cif or Mr. Sheen).
- Rough or harsh cloths.
- Commercial cleaning products.
