The Design Story

The Croft Chair was designed to balance elegance with ease. The continuous upholstered back and arms form a fluid, embracing line, giving the chair a distinctive tailored silhouette. The outward sweep of the arms introduces a subtle sense of movement, while the gently curved rear legs soften the structure and give the piece a relaxed confidence. Its proportions were carefully considered to provide comfort over long periods, allowing it to work as naturally around a dining table as it does as a standalone occasional chair.

Behind the Scenes

Each Croft Chair begins with a hand-built oak frame, shaped and assembled to achieve the chair’s flowing line between back, arms and seat. The chair requires considerable precision during upholstery, particularly around the shaped arms and tight curves, where the fabric or leather must be stretched and tailored cleanly without interrupting the line of the frame.
