The Design Story

The Cathedral Mary reimagines the original Mary Mirror through the addition of a jewel-like cathedral glass edge. Its softly crowned silhouette retains the classical elegance of the original design, while the faceted border introduces colour, depth, and a more decorative character. The contrast between the refined form and the luminous glass gives the piece a sense of richness without heaviness.

Behind the Scenes

Each section of cathedral glass is individually cut and hand-mitred so the faceted edge flows seamlessly around the frame and into the curved crown of the mirror. The process requires exceptional precision, particularly where straight lines transition into softened arches and corners. Selected for its depth of colour and natural movement, the glass reveals subtle tonal variation as light passes across the surface, enhancing the jewel-like quality of the finished piece.
